Enviroscapes conducted landscape restoration services at Troutman’s Creek in Long Branch, New Jersey. As per the soil test report recommendations, Enviroscapes applied fertilizer and aluminum sulfate using a rubber-tired tractor with broadcast attachment. Next Enviroscapes roto-tilled the seedbed to a depth of six (6) inches using a rubber-tired tractor with roto-tiller attachment and applied specified seed mixture using a Finn T90 Hydroseeder. Lastly, Enviroscapes applied straw mulch using a Reinco mechanical mulcher (except for Coir Mat 900 areas) and anchored it using a mechanical straw crimper and/or wood fiber mulch/polymer based tackifying agent.

Enviroscapes conducted landscape restoration services at the Hercules Incorporated Site in Parlin, New Jersey. Hercules Inc. was an S&P 500 chemical company in Wilmington, DE, created in 1912 as Hercules Powder Company from DuPont as a result of government antitrust action. The company, which was acquired by Ashland Inc. November 13, 2008, globally manufactures and markets chemical specialties used in a variety of home, office, and industrial markets and employs over 4,500 people.

DuPont Repauno
Project Description: Seeding Services

Enviroscapes performed permanent seeding services on 326,700 square feet of area (7.5 acres) at DuPont Repauno in Gibbstown, New Jersey. DuPont Company is located at 200 North Repauno Avenue in Gibbstown, Greenwich Township, New Jersey. The DuPont Gibbstown plant occupies nearly 1,900 acres along the Delaware River in Gibbstown, Greenwich Township. The plant, which opened in 1880, made a range of products including dynamite, acids, nitrobenzene and other organic compounds. In 1998 and 1999, DuPont sold its remaining business operations (sodium nitrite and industrial diamonds), but retains ownership of the property.

U.S. Army Fort Monmouth

Enviroscapes conducted wildflower seeding and split-rail fence installation at Fort Monmouth. Fort Monmouth is an installation of the Department of the Army in Monmouth County, New Jersey. The post covers nearly 1,126 acres of land referred to as the ‘Main Post’. A separate area, Camp Charles Wood, to the west includes post housing, a golf course, and additional office and laboratory facilities. A rail line, owned by Conrail, runs through Camp Charles Wood and out to Naval Weapons Station Earle. The post was selected for closure by the Base Realignment and Closure Commission in 2005 and is closed to all but authorized personnel.

Enviroscapes conducted landscape restoration services for the U.S. Army National Guard, at the Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst, in Lakehurst, New Jersey. The Naval Air Engineering Station (NAES) Lakehurst (also known as NAVAIR Lakehurst), is the northeast’s largest naval aviation installation and home to the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, as well as fourteen joint and interagency commands. NAVAIR Lakehurst is the world leader in Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) and Support Equipment (SE).

At the Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst (NAVAIR), an active military installation in Lakehurst, New Jersey, Enviroscapes conducted permanent seeding services. The Naval Air Engineering Station (NAES) Lakehurst host NAVAIR and over twenty other tenants. With a rich heritage as the nation’s lighter-than-air center, Navy Lakehurst is now the Department of Defense’s Aircraft Platform Interface expert. Sharing common borders with Fort Dix and McGuire Air Force Base, this 42,000 acre Joint Installation Partnership is strategically located in the populous northeast corridor, near New York City and Philadelphia.

NL Industries Landfill
Project Description: Seeding Services

Enviroscapes conducted re-seeding services at the former NL Industries Landfill in Sayreville, New Jersey, a 409-acre Brownfield site on the Raritan River. The site, which operated from 1972 to 1982, was once the second leading smelting facility in the nation, housing titanium-dioxide and sulfuric-acid manufacturing operations. On March 24, 2005 the Sayreville Economic and Redevelopment Agency took possession of the site and initiated plans to build a public waterfront area and promenade.

Valero Landfill Cap

Enviroscapes seeded 435,600 square feet (10 acres) of area at the Valero Landfill in Paulsboro, New Jersey. Valero Energy Corporation is a Fortune 500 company based in San Antonio, Texas and is North America’s largest independent petroleum refiner and marketer. Valero controls 16 refineries and seven ethanol plants stretching from California to Canada to the Caribbean.

NJ Manufacturers – Remediation of Historic Pesticide Contamination

Enviroscapes conducted wetland restoration and seeding to remediate historic pesticide contamination for the New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company in Hammonton, New Jersey. The Company operates offices in Parsippany and Hammonton, New Jersey. The NJ Manufacturers Company was formed in 1913 by factory owners who wanted to purchase insurance from a reliable, local safety-oriented carrier.

Paterson Avenue Landfill
Project Description: Seeding Services

Enviroscapes conducted environmental restoration services at the Paterson Avenue landfill in Hamilton, New Jersey. The Paterson Avenue landfill was selected to be part of the Brownfields to Greenfields Initiative, a 2002 policy directive, coordinated by Bradley M. Campbell, Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Commissioner Campbell directed the Office of Brownfield Reuse (OBR) to coordinate with other involved DEP programs to encourage and provide incentives for Greenfield reuse of Brownfield properties. Brownfield to Greenfield projects included the Paterson Avenue Landfill in Hamilton, 507 Elm Street in Kearny, the Dukes Parkway Landfill in Manville, and the Jackson Street Garage in Hoboken. The Patterson Avenue Landfill was a 100-acre municipal landfill that was revitalized into an ecologically diverse recreational facility.

 

PSE&G; Former Hackensack Gas Works Site

Enviroscapes conducted interim seeding on 143,748 square feet (3.3 Acres) of area for PSE&G at the former Hackensack Gas Works site in Hackensack, New Jersey. Nearly two decades ago, PSE&G was among the first utilities to aggressively begin remediating decommissioned manufactured gas plant (MGP) sites that operated in the late 1800s and early 1900s. As of 2007, PSE&G has spent more than $400 million to remove the wastes left behind from these sites, some of which are now used as parks, libraries, and roads.

Higgins Farm Superfund Site

The Higgins Farm Superfund Site is located in a rural portion of Franklin Township, Somerset County, New Jersey, approximately 4 miles northeast of Princeton, New Jersey. The site occupies approximately 75 acres southeast of New Jersey State Highway 518 and is largely used as pasture. Though used as a farm and pasture land, the Higgins Farm Site was at times also used for the disposal of hazardous wastes, including hazardous substances.

Wyckoff’s Mills Wetland Mitigation Bank is operated by Shaw Environmental & Infrastructure Inc. and is located on a 146.46 acre parcel in Monroe Township, Middlesex County. The bank received a total of 86.91 mitigation credits for freshwater wetland creation, and wetland/transition area enhancement activities as well as the preservation of upland and wetland areas. The service area of the mitigation bank includes watershed management areas 8, 9 and 10 (Raritan Drainage Basin). Enviroscapes seeded 304,920 square feet (7 acres) of area at the referenced site, as detailed above, in accordance with the following specifications:

The 1,455 acre DuPont Chambers Works complex, consisting of the Chambers Works manufacturing area and the former Carneys Point Works plant, now primarily a wildlife habitat area, is located along the eastern shore of the Delaware River in the communities of Pennsville, Deepwater, and Carneys Point, New Jersey. DuPont Chambers Works is Salem County’s second largest employer with more than 750 full-time professional staff and scientists, approximately 60 percent of whom reside in South New Jersey.
